Our client was severely injured in a car crash. She was a passenger.
The insurance company responsible for the person who caused the accident (not the driver of her car) immediately offered policy limits, unfortunately only $50,000, not nearly enough to compensate our client for her injuries.
We instituted a claim against the insurance carrier for the car in which she was riding making a claim for underinsured motorist coverage.
We were able to collect an additional $300,000 for underinsured coverage then, because we felt that that insurance company did not act in good faith, we were able to collect an additional $50,000 for bad faith, multiplying our client’s recovery many times over from the original $50,000.
